When we notice a business has closed, we frequently hear and assume it is for one of three reasons; the Internet, the pandemic, or mass merchants. If we look deeper we find that the majority of small business failures are due to the owner of the business – a lack of action or the wrong actions. Join us as we detail the most common reasons a small business fails.
Presenter: Tom Shay is a fourth-generation small business owner. His experience is that as an independent retailer, wholesaler, and manufacturer. Recognized for the unique approach to human resources utilized in a family business, Shay was asked if he could share the techniques in a book to be published by a national trade association. Shay’s areas of expertise are financial understanding, business strategy, marketing skills, staff education and sales. He has created over 50 topics in business management including one on business management after the Covid-19 virus which was recently delivered to the Houston SBDC.
