The Department of Education SBIR Program focuses on R&D for product development and commercialization. This workshop will provide an overview of the program, highlight the three priority areas, address the unique components of the Department of Education program, and provide a four-step method for Phase I SBIR proposal development. Please note that the ED/IES SBIR program is highly competitive; it typically receives more than 225 proposals each year, and funds 10 to 15 new Phase I awards. Join us to increase your opportunity to submit a compliant and competitive Phase I proposal.
Presenter: Jim Greenwood and his wife, Gail, have been involved in the SBIR program since its inception in 1983. The Greenwoods have taught SBIR/STTR workshops in 48 states plus Puerto Rico and Washington D.C., offering training through local and regional economic development groups, universities, federal laboratories, SBDCs, and MEPs. In addition to offering SBIR/STTR training, the Greenwoods provide applicants with critiques of draft proposals before they are finalized and submitted for funding. They have performed more than 1,100 such reviews over the past decade and have always been able to offer suggestions that made the proposals stronger contenders for SBIR/STTR funding.
